They say it's an ill wind that blows nobody any good and Asian-based sale and purchase brokers have arguably found the record decline in freight markets and asset values over the past year a mixed blessing.rnIn terms of second-hand S&P business and chartering, there are few indications that the downturn is causing any particular pain for brokers, who for the most part are replacing the higher fixture values of the past few years with an increased volume of transactions.rnFor newbuilding brokers, the story is rather different - the focus of the past few months has been on dealing with an unhappy rush to cancel, delay or renegotiate contracts, particularly in Chinese shipyards and some of the smaller yards in Korea which have run into financial difficulties.
