While China was off work enjoying its Golden Week holiday, the Baltic Capesize and Panamax indices both posted strong gains, rising 20.1% and 12.7% respectively. For the week, the Baltic Dry Index gained 12.5%. In Capesize markets, chartering in the Atlantic was active. For delivery at Rotterdam on a trans-Atlantic round voyage and redelivery Skaw-Cape Passero, the Cape Dover (2006,185,500dwt) was fixed by Oldendorf at $46,000/day. For the charterer EDF, the Royal Accord (2009,180,000dwt) was taken from delivery at Gijon for a mid-October trip via Colombia with redelivery on the Continent at $43,000/day.
