Last week's sacking of Alexander Buzakov, chief executive of Russia's state aid agency for struggling shipyards, raises many questions about the future of the country's shipbuilding sector and who will pay for it. Buzakov, head of United Shipbuilding Corp, was ordered out by the chairman of the board, Russia's deputy prime minister Igor Sechin. However, the cause has not been made clear. A Moscow newspaper report claiming that Buzakov had aroused Sechin's ire has mystified St Petersburg shipyard sources.
