Rising operating costs are galloping faster than revenue. This was the message of Regional Container Lines (RCL), the Bangkok, Thailand-based container shipping company, as it announced its second quarter interims. Commenting on the market in general, the RCL board noted that the volume of containers carried has continued to grow steadily despite concerns over the health of developed economies, notably in the US and Europe. In the Middle East and Mediterranean, trades have continued to grow strongly and RCL has expanded its footprint in the Gulf area to capitalise on this growth.
