Norway's maritime business bulldozer first blazed a trail into Spain in the late 1980s and shocked its shipbuilding industry. Back then, Trygve Seglem, a staunch European, boasted that he would build 20 ships across Spain. "The industry just laughed, they thought it was a joke," Seglem tells Fairplay. Seglem's roaring ambition then seemed incomprehensible to the Spanish industry, yet 20 years on, Knutsen OAS has become the biggest foreign owner to build in Spain.
