There is always a buying lull after the Christmas and New Year holidays.This year was no exception, but we appear to be finally coming out of it. In the tanker sector, there was a great deal of activity. For conversion to an FPSO, the single-hull, 1988-built 255,087dwt Europe has been sold by Dynacom to Prosafe for a price exceeding $40M. It was built as Fina Europe for $42M and has changed hands a few times since then. Zero depreciation after 18 years is a quite acceptable position for an owner, especially if to change the vessel's original name you only have to paint out the word Fina.
