Singapore listed Neptune Orient Lines (NOL) continues to be in the limelight. A return to profit, approval of shareholders to the sale of American Eagle Tankers (AET), and confirmation of Ron Widdows as chief executive of liner division APL have buoyed sentiment. The government-linked company is now almost totally focused on liner operations. The logistics division will no doubt play its role and over time will come increasingly to the forefront. For now, however, it is liner operations that will be central to the fortunes of the company. And logistics after all is inextricably tied up with the container business.
