If container traffic continues to grow at its present record-setting rate, Canada's west coast will need at least one new container terminal within the next five years and another after 2006 - and one of these will probably be located at Prince Rupert. But the prediction comes after years in which Pacific North-West port executives have seen their overall share of North American West Coast business fall, while California's has grown. And that's not all the Canadians are concerned about. As they look south across the border, they see what they perceive as a more benevolent tax structure in the US that encourages investment in port infrastructure.
