Piracy and armed robbery in the South China Sea and Indian Ocean are on the rise with current international prevention initiatives showing scant signs of success. In response, the IMO launched the second phase of its piracy prevention campaign earlier this year. It concentrates on evaluating the actions taken so far by governments invited to implement IMO recommendations on the suppression of piracy and armed robbery.
