Bhp Billiton's decision to downsize and restructure its shipping, land transport and logistics operations will generate some significant cost savings for the newly merged resources giant. The company says S two- or three-month transitional period can be expected as certain staff are relocated from Melbourne to the Hague, from where most of BHP Billiton's vessel chartering, sea freight management and logistics business will be carried out. BHP Billiton's current president of marine logistics, John Clarebrough, is transferring to the Hague to head the marine division.
