摘要

Lying peacefully in a corner of an old dock in the tiny harbour of Maryport in the UK is one of the last survivors of a class of small vessels called, unromantically, Victualling Inshore Craft, or VICs as they became better known. Built during World War Two, the craft were designed to supply naval vessels and bases, not only around the UK coast but also in foreign waters, carrying cargoes that included general stores, ammunition, torpedoes, water and fuel.
