Although the improvement in net earnings from 2003 to 2004 was not quite as good/high as the change from 2002 to 2003, it stood at impressive 33%, as the average net monthly timecharter equivalent of the spot rates in 2004 came to about USD 910,000 - about USD 30,000 per day. These figures exclude waiting time; however, that was not much of an issue last year anyway. Expressed in USD/pmt for the index-voyage Ras Tanura/ Chiba, the 2004 spot average came to about USD 37, freight rates were in a span between USD 30 and USD 48 as bottom and peak level, respectively.
