Royal Philips Electronics introduced the TZA2060 semiconductor, a 12.5 Gbps singlechip asynchronous optical cross-point switch that will bring protocols such as 10 Gigabit Ethernet, Synchronous Optical Network (SONET) and Synchronous Digital Hierarchy (SDH) to Metropolitan and Wide Area Networks (MANs and WANs).
