PURPOSE: A 43Gbps optical transponder having tributary signals with 2.5Gbps, 10Gbps and 40Gbps is provided to receive a 10Gbps tributary signal together with 2.5Gpbs and 10Gbps tributary signals. CONSTITUTION: A 10 Giga tributary signal converting unit(100) receives a plurality of optical signals with 10 Gbps capacity, converts the received optical signals into a plurality of 16 parallel STM-64(Synchronous Transfer Mode-64) signals. The 10 Giga tributary signal converting unit(100) converts a plurality of 16 parallel STM-64 signals into a plurality of optical signals with 10Gbps capacity. A 2.5 Giga tributary signal converting unit(110) receives a plurality of optical signals with 2.5Gbps capacity, and converts the received optical signals into a plurality of 16 parallel STM-64 signals. The 2.5 Giga tributary signal converting unit(110) converts a plurality of 16 parallel STM-64 signals into a plurality of optical signals with 2.5Gbps capacity. A main signal converting unit(120) multiplexes four 16 parallel STM-64 signals generated in the 10 Giga tributary signal converting unit(100) and the 2.5 Giga tributary signal converting unit(110), generates an optical signal having 43Gbps capacity, and outputs the generated optical signal. The main signal converting unit(120) receives an optical signal with 43Gbps capacity, generates four 16 parallel STM-16 signals, and transmits the generated four 16 parallel STM-16 signals to the 10 Giga tributary signal converting unit(100) and the 2.5 Giga tributary signal converting unit(110).
