It was almost 40 years ago when Erv Bettendorf established Bettendorf Trucking with one truck, which hauled wood shavings to the particle-board plant now operating as Humboldt Flakeboard in Arcata, CA. Within one year, a chip hauling enterprise began to take shape, and over the next twenty years, Bettendorf thrived within the local pulp and sawmill market. In 1976, a Redding, CA, location was established, and followed by satellite divisions in White City, Klamath Falls, Albany, and Roseburg, as well as the Sierra division in Lincoln, CA. Today, Bettendorf Trucking operates a fleet of 123 trucks and 315 trailer units hauling wood chips, shavings, sawdust, hog fuel and other secondary products. It has over 280 employees working as drivers, mechanics and office staff. With an annual average mileage standing at 150,000 miles for the fleet's trucks, keeping them in top shape and on the road is imperative.
