Despite the delayed arrival of our airplane into Santo Domingo, it looked as though we would depart to Miami on schedule. The credit for the quick turnaround belonged to the Dominican ground personnel. From the gate agents to the baggage handlers, the process of preparing the airplane for departure was progressing like a well-rehearsed symphony. Just as I began to contemplate the thought of why the process didn't occur quite so efficiently on a consistent basis in the States, our little corner of the world got rocked.
