Whoa, hang on. I can't see the standby instruments because the glareshield annunciator lights are, well, glaring so brightly. "How do I dim the glareshield?" I inquire of Jay Christensen, my simula- tor instructor. "Turn on the nav lights," he suggests dryly. I am keeping the airplane upright, but altitude and heading are vague run the' generator failure checklist. This, of course, prompted me to reset the generator (which was actually the overvoltage culprit in the first place).
