Flight Design recently announced targeted specs and some suppliers for its newly announced four-seat, all-composite C4. This is the first time the historically light-sport airplane manufacturer has attempted a certified design, and its targets are ambitious. Powered by a 180 hp engine, the supplier of which has not yet been announced, the C4 is expected to cruise as fast as 160 knots. Flight Design is also planning a turbocharged 155 hp diesel engine option. The airplane will feature a 53-inch-wide cockpit and a 1,300-pound useful load.
