Tampa to new orleans, it doesn't sound like that big of an enterprise for a turboprop. The straight shot across the Gulf of Mexico is 423 nautical miles. Even with the circuitous route up to Tallahassee and then west to Mobile, then back south a bit to New Orleans, the entire trip is only 499 nautical. My wife and I have done it often, sometimes over the Gulf, sometimes hugging the shore. So when we made plans to attend a meeting in the Big Easy last October, I was quiedy looking forward to the flights out and back, for they are segments of agreeable length; just over or under two hours, depending on direction of flight.
