At the north end of the show grounds at AirVenture is an eclectic collection of airplanes that all have one thing in common. When the call came they went to war! But it turns out the "warbirds" are much more than the airplanes. If you haven't spent time at the north end you've missed a community that's made up of groups of people that are as eclectic as the airplanes they maintain, restore, rebuild and fly. Whether they're involved with fighters, bombers, transports, trainers or liaison/observation birds, their interest in warbirds is founded on a desire to recognize the contribution of the airplanes and honor and support the veterans who went to war in them when called on by their country.
