The Shuttleworth Military Paqeant Flying Day has always been a popular highlight on the Old Warden calendar, as it often features interesting visitors in addition to the wonderful fleet based at the Bedfordshire aerodrome. Despite windy conditions during this year's event on June 30, a bumper crowd, warm temperatures and plenty of sunshine were the perfect backdrop for a classic pageant. The sight and sound of jets over Old Warden is unusual but always welcome, so to have both Golden Apple's North American F-86A Sabre G-SABR and North Weald-based Hawker Hunter T.7 WV372 in the flying programme was a real treat. The latter was flown by Shuttleworth Collection pilot Chris Heames, who was dispatched in a DHC Chipmunk late in the afternoon to collect the pre-positioned Hunter from nearby Cambridge Airport. He returned to provide a show-stopping routine.
