The Air Force Museum of New Zealand has announced that it will be gifting ex-RNZAF Grumman Avenger NZ2505 to the Gisborne Aviation Preservation Society (GAPS). The aircraft has been on long-term loan with GAPS since 1999 during which time members have carried out some preservation work to ensure its survival. Major restoration has been impossible due to the construction of the volunteer group's new display hall, now nearing completion, and it is hoped that the permanent acquisition of the aircraft will enable the society to forge ahead with its intention to fully rebuild it.
