A new monument dedicated to the crew of HP Halifax III MZ763 was unveiled on September 22, in the town of Weert, the Netherlands. The ceremony took place exactly 65 years to the day since the 78 Squadron machine was shot down and crashed just outside the town.rnThe crew of MZ763 left Breighton, Yorks, on the evening of Septemberrn22,1944 to take part in a raid on the German city of Neuss. The sortie resulted in the loss of 20 Lancasters and two Halifaxes, the latter both crashing in the Dutch province of Limburg. On the return leg, MZ763 was shot down by a night-fighter.
