The articles on Sunderlands in the May FlyPast were of great interest to me. When I joined the RCAF in 1942, as a pilot or observer, my greatest desire was to fly on Sunderlands or Mosguitos. I wound up in 1945 as a wireless opavigator on Coastal Command Mosguitos. I had another Canadian and friend by the name of 'Eldy' Wimpers, who became a captain in Coastal Command flying out of Northern Ireland in a Sunderland. only met up with him once on leave in London.
