There are not too many museums around that are solely devoted to the history of seaplanes and flying-boats, but in Biscarrosse there is one that does just that. The small town is in France's Aquitaine region, about 50 miles (80km) south west of Bordeaux. A short distance from the Bay of Biscay, to the north is the Lac de Cazaux and to the south the Lac de Biscarrosse. With all this water around, it was chosen as the assembly and test facility for Pierre Latecoere's series of flying-boats, which culminated in 1942 with the the heyday of the commercial flying-boat in the 1920s and 1930s, up to the CL-415 turboprop and Beriev Be-200 jet of today.
