After a one-year fling with the Food Processing Suppliers Assn.'s Process Expo, the Institute of Food Technologists' (IFT) Annual Meeting & Food Expo will be single again, this time June 11-14 at the Morial Convention Center in New Orleans. The IFT annual meeting and show has been a tradition for 80 years. It alternates between Chicago and three coastal locations, with New Orleans coming up in the rotation every three years. The Big Easy is a wonderful city to talk food, although it's never drawn as well as Chicago. The IFT Expo counted 15,000 attendees when it was in New Orleans in 2008. For this year, the food technologists' association estimates it will have 941 exhibitors covering 201,400 net sq. ft. Attendance is expected to be 18,000. The event begins on Saturday, June 11, with student poster competitions, committee meetings and the annual awards celebration and networking reception.
