Enter jonathan wride and Todd Thiel, managing directors of private equity company Capital Partners, who did just that, blazing a trail by staking a half-billion US-dollar claim in the investment hub of the region. Capital Partners is now a premier international prospector in this new commercial frontier and is set to enjoy the results of its commitment to the Middle East's "City of Gold." "We've made a tremendous commitment to Dubai," says Wride, seated in offices where white walls, white carpets and black and stainless steel furniture suggest discretion and efficiency. "Our first project in Dubai is approximately US$500 million," he says of the "small city" development that is being funded primarily by private U.S. capital. Wride is very private about the details of their projects, providing only a few tantalizing hints such as the forthcoming launch of a leading U.S. business school in Dubai.
