In the interesting paper by Wardana, in press with this journal and accessible via Science Direct, experiments are described in which a droplet of Jatropha oil is mounted on the tip of a type K thermocouple and ignited, the thermocouple signal providing the temperature history during combustion of the droplet. The following question arose in my mind when reading this.
