EPA is rejecting recommendations from an independent watchdog agency to stop relying on third-party reviewson the toxicity of consumer products.EPA's Office of Inspector General released an audit yesterday on the agency's Safer Choice program, which isdesigned to prevent the use of toxic chemicals and pollution in products by coordinating with major retailers andmanufacturers.The volunteer-based program aims to add 200 "Safer Choice products to the program and 25 chemicals to theSafer Chemical Ingredients List each year."
