A biologist has recovered a bottle that was released nearly 60 years ago by a researcher at Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution in Massachusetts. The bottle was one of thousands that researchers released into the Atlantic Ocean between 1956 and 1972 as a means of studying surface and bottom currents. Since 1956, people have found about 10 percent of the 300,000 bottles.
