This note gives a descriptive validation to a classical model where the redness of the Sun at sunset is attributed to the Rayleigh scattering mechanism (～ λ~(-4), λ being the wavelength). The motivation for this study has no intention in dismissal of other existing approaches to the problem, such as the recent isoredshift explanation by Santilli et al. [1].
