The effect of slip velocity and chemical reaction on the peristaltic transport of a Newtonian fluid with variable viscosity in an asymmetric vertical channel has been discussed. Asymmetry in the flow is induced due to traveling waves of different phase and amplitude which propagate along the channel walls. Long wavelength approximation is used for the flow analysis to obtain closed form analytic solution for the axial velocity, the concentration field and the pressure gradient The pressure rise is computed numerically and explained graphically. The effects of slip parameter, Schmidt number, chemical reaction parameter, phase difference and local mass Grashof number on the pressure gradient, the pressure rise and the axial velocity are discussed. Moreover, the effects of Schmidt number, chemical reaction parameter and phase difference on the concentration distribution are discussed numerically and explained graphically.
