And, by signing an Agreement on Environmental Assessment Cooperation in April, the federal government and Quebec government agreed to undertake cooperative environmental assessments for projects subject to both the Canadian Environmental Assessment Act and Quebec Environmental Quality Act. At the end of last year, Quebec adopted Bill 44, An Act to amend the Act respecting the Ministere de I'Environnement, the Environment Quality Act and other legislative provisions.
