摘要

Individuals who work alone are subject to much greater risks should they be injured while on the job. What could otherwise be a relatively minor injury - if the injured worker got immediate medical attention - could turn into a serious situation or a fatality if the worker is left unattended. This is especially true when a person's work environment includes chemicals and hazardous waste. Employers have faced the problem of lone worker protection for years. The issue has become a hot topic in more recent times, mostly due to worker cutbacks and greater awareness of safety-related issues. In fact, British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba and New Brunswick make specific mention of "Lone Worker" concerns in their current legislation.
