Oil and grease pollution from urban stormwaters is an important and growing water quality problem. Rivers and groundwater that were once pure have become polluted and life threatening. Some of the main culprits are fat, oil and grease released from food service and preparation facilities that create back-ups and other problems in sewer systems. While it may be expensive to maintain preventative controls, it's more expensive to unclog blockages and cleanup spills.
