It gives me great pleasure to introduce this special issue highlighting some of the broad spectrum of research presented at the ASME Thirteenth International Conference on Nanochannels, Microchannels and Minichannels (ICNMM), held in San Francisco from July 6-9, 2015. The co-chair for ICNMM was Professor Ali Beskok, Chair of the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Southern Methodist University. This conference was unique for ICNMM due to the close partnership with ASME's International Technical Conference and Exhibition on Packaging and Integration of Electronic and Photonic Systems (InterPACK). The General Chair of 2015 InterPACK was Dr. Michael Ellsworth from IBM, and the Technical Program Chair was Professor Mehdi Asheghi from Stanford University.
