In December 2015 the UK mean temperature was a record breaking 8℃; this anomaly of +4.1℃ above the long-term average was the highest for any calendar month since 1910. It beat the previous record which was +3.3℃ above average in April 2011 and meant that the temperatures in December 2015 were closer to those normally experienced during April or May. This posed a potential problem for the turkey farmer in that prepared turkeys would have been at an unsafe temperature for storage unless he employed a local butcher and competitor to store produce.
