摘要

The toughness of brittle intermetallics has been improved by controlling the morphologies of the Ni_3Althrough the solution and aging treatment in (NiAl+Ni_3Al)two-phase alloy.In thisstudy, changes in the Ni_3Al morphologies were attempted through variation of the heat treatment conditions. The micro-structure was examined using optical and scanning electron microscopy and the phase was characterized by X-ray diffraction analysis. Ourresults indicated that the precipitation of the homogeneous and randomly-oriented Ni_3AL during the final aging treatment couldbe made possible by performing an isothermal trans-formation of NiAl-(B2)to Ni+5Al_3 single phase prior to the fina laging treatment in Ni-34atAL Alloy.
