While there was plenty of news that came out of the New York University International Hospitality Industry Investment Conference in June, one item that seemed to steal everyone's attention was the announcement that the 1,980-room New York Hilton Midtown is ending its traditional room service. Jeff Weinstein, HOTELS editor in chief, wrote on his blog, "Despite the spate of negative press Hilton has received the past few days, I say kudos to Hilton for stepping out and taking a chance to fix a delivery system that really works for no one. It feels like the start of a trend."
