摘要

Southeast asia an endless string of questions has ran through hoteliers' minds since the disastrous tsunamis struck Southeast Asia on December 26. But after the destruction and the loss, as the hotel industry moves forward and begins to look ahead, one question stands out: What now for resorts, hotel companies and tourism? Most hotel companies operating in the region believe a decline in business, while an unfortunate reality, is only temporary. Analysts agree that the shock to the travel and tourism system is unlikely to result in long-term suffering in most areas. As travelers receive clear information regarding less-affected parts of certain countries, they will begin to return. As governments take measures and infrastructure is rebuilt, travel and tourism will bounce back. Of course, recovery time will vary. With some destinations hit harder than others, each will return to business as usual on its own schedule. What follows is a country-by-country roundup of how the tsunamis impacted the hotel business and what each country is doing to recover.
