The priceless publicity of a top Hollywood celebrity showing up to a movie premiere wearing your hotel's T-shirt or being photographed by the paparazzi lounging around your pool is paying off generously for New York-based lifestyle operator Creator of the ultra-successful 60 Thompson in New York's SoHo neighborhood, Thompson Hotels is in expansion mode, first to Miami, where it operates the hip Sagamore Hotel, and now to Los Angeles where seven months ago it took over operation at the landmark Hollywood Roosevelt. Three more hotels are in the works-a second Thompson hotel will open in Beverly Hills next year and two more Manhattan hotels are under development. The company also is negotiating projects in Las Vegas and London, as well as a second Miami hotel.
