New orleans While it is difficult to describe Hurricane Katrina as anything other than a tragic natural disaster, its impact on the financial side of the hotel industry in the short-to medium-term is likely to be anything but. While owners and operators have had to recover, repair and adjust to a different type of demand, business for the many hotels that have been able to house those seeking rooms has been steady and rates have held up with high demand from government agencies along with insurance workers and engineers.
