It should come as no surprise such a hands-on, personal service industry as the hotel business has never been known as a cutting-edge leader in either developing or imple-menting the latest technology. At the same time, there has never been a technology like the Internet surfacing as such a natural extension for growing business and creating customer relationships—the lifeblood of the hotel business. With this in mind, and with the cooperation of VISA U.S.A., HOTELS magazine and Cornell University gathered a panel of hotel industry experts on June 20 during the HITEC 2000 convention in Dallas to discuss the ever-growing list of implications surrounding the ever-changing development of e-commerce and e-marketing.
