One of the year's biggest tests of your Internet policy is in full swing right now. We're talking about fantasy football. This is not a small thing: Some 20 to 40 million American workers are thought to play fantasy football. According to one estimate, the average "team owner" uses up to an hour of worktime a week on the pastime. What's the best way to handle this distraction, coming on top of all the other online distractions workers face? There are three basic approaches: 1. Take a hard line. If your Internet policy bars recreational use of the web during working hours, you may block and tackle fantasy football just as you do eBay or YouTube. 2. Tolerate it. This approach may show up at companies that don't have an anti-recreational Web-use policy.
