Does your workforce understand the health plan you offer? Judging by the average Summary Plan Description (SPD), maybe not. A new study shows that important information in many SPDs is written at a level the average plan participant may not grasp. The study, looking at SPDs for 40 health plans across the country, was published by the authoritative Employee Benefit Research Institute. Why is this new research important? Because SPDs remain the primary source of employer-provided health plan information for the nation's workers.
