Will you have to pay workers FMLA leave? Will you have to pay part-time workers sick time? Both could happen, as shown by the following developments: (Healthy Families Act) that would require every employer to offer workers paid sick leave. You're probably already doing that, but here's the kicker - you'd have to offer the sick time to any part-time employee who works at least 20 hours per week or 1,000 a year. You'd be required to pay full-time employees seven paid sick days per year; part-timers would get a pro-rated amount.
