摘要

Employers may choose to permit employees to voluntarily elect to have wages deducted from pay for a varietyrnof reasons, including union dues. Employers may agree as part of a collective bargaining agreement to a unionrndues "check-off," in which the employer will deduct an employee's union dues from each paycheck and transmitrnthe amounts deducted directly to the union. However, under federal labor law, the employer must receive arnwritten assignment from each employee from whose paycheck the union dues are to be deducted. The writtenrnassignments may not be made irrevocable for a period of more than one year or beyond the termination date ofrnthe applicable collective bargaining agreement, whichever occurs sooner.
