Although the Fair Labor Standards Act does not explicitly dictate when employers should pay overtime to employees, the statute has been interpreted to require employers to pay overtime "promptly." The requirement that employees' overtime pay be computed on a weekly basis under the FLSA does not mean that overtime must be paid weekly. It is sufficient if overtime pay earned in a particular week is paid on the payday covering the period in which the week ends (29 CFR 778.106).
