The New York State Assembly has passed legislation to increase protections against discriminatory harassmentin the workplace (A. 8421, Simotas), according to New York State Asesmbly Speaker Carl Heastie, LaborCommittee Chair Marcos Crespo, Governmental Operations Chair Michele Titus and Ethics and GuidanceCommittee Chair Aravella Simotas in a June 19 announcement.In 2018, the legislature enacted a number of measures to combat sexual harassment in the workplace, includingmandating that all employers in New York State have a sexual harassment policy, employee training and a clearcomplaint and investigation process.
