European utility Opus Energy is expanding its generating fleet to include the company's first hydroelectric power projects, saying "businesses diversifying into renewables makes sound economic sense." The deal, announced earlier this week, will see Opus Energy purchase power from a trio of small hydropower plants located in Scotland. Included are two on the Auchencheyne Farm which will have a cumulative installed capacity of 57 kW, and a third 190 kW project located at Selcoth Farm. The first two are already in operation, while the latter will come on line by the end of this month.
